What is Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis or excessive underarm sweating is a debilitating medical condition in which a person sweats excessively and unpredictably. Botox® has been used for many years to treat this condition, particularly when other treatments have been tried and failed.
How do Botox® injections for hyperhidrosis work?
Botox® temporarily stops the sweat glands in the axilla (armpit) area producing sweat.
Before treatment
We recommend that you remove any hair from this area in your normal way 1-2 days prior to treatment. This should avoid any sensitivity from shaving/waxing. We do suggest this for gentlemen also.
Is the procedure painful?
This procedure is well tolerated by our clients. There are quite a few injections required for this treatment, but our clients feel the results greatly outweigh any initial discomfort and are happy to return for future treatments.
How long will the effects last?
We have found that our clients with hyperhidrosis return to us between 9 – 12 months. The treatment should start to work between 7 – 10 days.
Are there any side effects?
This procedure is very well tolerated by our clients. Side effects are usually rare, but can include slight bruising and tenderness at the site of the injections. This should disappear within 48 hours of the treatment.
