Dermal Fillers

What are dermal fillers made of?

The active ingredient of dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Beletero is hyaluronic acid, a substance which is found naturally in our body. The hyaluronic acid is man-made and has a much better safety profile than older fillers made from animal sources or silicone.

How do dermal fillers work?

Dermal Fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Beletero can restore volume lost through the aging process. Small amounts of Juvederm, Beletero or Restylane are injected at the base of the wrinkle, and the dermal filler gives natural volume under the wrinkle, which is then lifted up and smoothed out.

Which areas can be treated?

Dermal fillers are normally used for the mid and lower face. They can add volume to the cheekbone area to give a more youthful and feminine appearance. Dermal fillers are commonly used to treat the nasolabial folds which are the lines that run from the side of the nostril to the corner of the mouth. They can also treat the marionette lines which run vertically downwards from the corner of the mouth.

Dermal fillers can be used to add volume to the lips which tend to become thinner as we age. The lips can be treated in a very natural way to give them more definition and volume. Lip enhancement is a treatment that is popular with women of all ages.

How long do Dermal Fillers Last?

Dermal fillers typically last 9-12 months.
